چکیده

The Dimensional Metrology Group, and its predecessors at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (formerly the National Bureau of Standards) have been involved in documenting the science of gauge block calibration almost continuously since the seminal work of Peters and Boyd in 1926 [1]. Unfortunately, most of this documentation has been in the form of reports and other internal documents that are difficult for the interested metrologist outside the Institute to obtain.

Comparison of Inferior Dental Nerve Block Injections in Child Patients Using 30-Gauge and 27-Gauge Short Needles

Introduction: The purpose of the present study was to record their pain sensation and to assess children`s reaction objectively and subjectively while receiving dental local anesthesia with 27- and 30-gauge needles. Methods: Forty children (24 boys and 16 girls) participated in this study. A random double-blinded crossover design was used so that each child served as his or her own control, rec...

Millennial Messages for Qcd from the Superworld and from the String

Supersymmetric gauge theories have had a significant impact on our understanding of QCD and of field theory in general. The phases of N = 1 supersymmetric QCD (SQCD) are discussed, and the possibility of similar phases in non-supersymmetric QCD is emphasized. It is described how duality in SQCD links many previously known duality transformations that were thought to be distinct, including Olive...

Effect of needle size on success of transarterial axillary block.

The transarterial approach to brachial plexus block is a well-established method of producing anesthesia of the upper extremity. However, it is associated with a failure rate of 20% to 30%. Failure may be secondary to the common use of a relatively long needle, which can penetrate the posterior wall of the sheath and result in inadvertent injection of the local anesthetic into the surrounding t...

Comparison of inferior dental nerve block injections in child patients using 30-gauge and 25-gauge short needles.

Thirty-gauge needles are generally not recommended by dental schools, yet many dentists use them. Thin needles (30 gauge) can aspirate blood, have similar deflection to thick needles (25 gauge), and resist breakage. Measurable clinical differences between inferior dental block injections using 25-gauge or 30-gauge short needles for children is addressed in this research paper. Random allocation...
